Memphis Part 1

We have returned from our trip into Memphis. We saw the best of Memphis and the worst. Tuesday we went to the Zoo. The exhibits are absolutely beautiful. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a 10. They recently added an all new exhibit called the Northwest Passage. It includes an underwater viewing area of both the polar bears and sea lions. We got to see the sea lion show; which was fabulous. In the picture below the kids lined up and the sea lion splashed them. The whole show was entertaining and educational. We loved it.

The polar bears were fun to watch. They played ball, swam and climbed out. This one came over to say "Hi!"

While the animals are great, the whole zoo is awesome. The landscaping was complete the moment you walked in to the moment you left. This waterfall is at the entrance of the primate canyon.

There were different hands-on experiences along the way. This is a zoo keeper chat with Ursula the turantula. They only eat crickets and since we are not crickets she was harmless. The kids and I all let her crawl on our hands.

DS was hilarious when we got to the giraffes. He let out a giggle and said "Oh, my gosh." He has seen them in movies...Melman. And plenty of pictures. This was his first live experience and he thought they were cool.

Stay tuned...more to come.

You'll have to bring him down to Binder Park Zoo so he can hand feed a giraffe...he'd love it!

It's been years since I went to the Memphis Zoo. Jessica was still in elementary school and I went as a chaperone, so I know it was at least 10 years ago. It was great then, and they've done lots of remodeling and new exhibits since then, I hear.

Glad to hear y'all enjoyed it, and hope you're having a great time in Arkansas. See you in a little while, LOL. ;-)
