Exploring a Gravel Pit

With the embarrassment left behind, banana pudding in hand and a bag full of clothes we headed out for an afternoon of fun. The pond is an old gravel pit owned by my dad's cousin. We were the first to arrive. We helped get everything set up, my kiddos went exploring. I love watching them in new enviroments. And this place is full of them. Sand. Wildflowers. A rocky penninsula(formerly an island but the water level is down.) A sand hill. And water!!!

We swam, fished, slid down the sand hill. We ate, laughed and enjoyed one another's company. I had a "crowning" moment in scrabble; yet my uncle won the game overall. DS caught a 10" bass. He struggled to reel it in, but he did it all by himself.
As the sunset the fire was ablazing. Hot stuff man, I tried to roast a marshmellow on a small fork...not recommended.

There was a small exhibit of fireworks..the legal kind. All with family. Perfect. Now if I could only find out what happened to my siblings and why they were not there??

My dad's cousin sent on some pics...THANKS!

Ooooooh, I would have LOVED that! Now that's my kind of outing. You can keep your big city stuff, I'm a country girl. I love to swim, camp out and picnic. Looks like you had a great time. :-)
