As to not lose the art of handwriting in this generation, my son now has a pen pal. Wendy's son and DS are the same age. They are both homeschooled. They live states apart. What better mix could we get? The kids get to share their lives with one another. They get mail in the mail box addressed to them. They get to learn about another state. Another family. We, the mothers, get co-operation in hand writing. WooHoo!
Since writing is still pretty new to my son, I thought we would do a sentence a day and mail it on Friday. He was so excited he wanted to do them all today and get it sent. He wrote four simple sentences, even helping with what he wanted to say. We included some surprises and off it went.
It's so exciting!

Something old .. with something new
... I like it.
I love that they are both so excited! I think that is a great day to do a sentence a day and mail it on Fridays. We will try that too, if I can make him wait that long. :-) You might end up with a letter each day. Ha!
Thanks for coming up with such a great idea. I think by posting this it might spark interest for others.
How fun! Don't we ALL love to get mail! sounds like school is going well.
i remember pen pal days...how wonderful....
Thanks for visiting again! How do you possibly homeschool and still have time to check in on other people's blogs/lives?
wow. you amaze me. I was just thrilled that HBIW was finally in school full-time (not in a bad way, just because I work from home and now I don't feel like I have to juggle the two!).
espn. really. !.
ooh ooh! i love pen pals. i had lots growing up. and still have one now and then.... :)
That is so wonderful! I'm impressed that you're doing what you can to keep the art of handwriting alive and well with your son. I intend to do the same with mine. :)
