Because Every Vote Matters!

Here is your opportunity to have your opinion heard.

When you say the word thanks do you pronounce it with a short or long A sound?

Short a is A as in cat.
Long a is A as in ate.

Cast your vote here or in the comments section of my status on facebook.
ThAnk you!

Long for sure. but it does depend on where you live. Like Linds, being British. or, for example, the word Bear. My friend Liz from Long Island pronounces it "Baahr" where us Northern folks say it "Bair".

I tried pronouncing it with a short A with no luck... until I read Linds comment... then I had a short O sound. Still no short A. So I vote for the long A!

Just for the record:
Webster does pronounce it short. Although most Americans I know say it with a long A. Interesting stuff.
