Giving blood

Been thinking...
I was underweight, pregnant or nursing for most of my adult life which made me ineligible for giving blood. I am no longer underweight (ha!) pregnant (thank God) or nursing(kind of against nursing elementary aged children.) So I guess it is time I get off my butt and do it.

Updated: I just made my appointment. Anyone know how long to expect? Or if they allow children to watch?

Kids are fine ... figure half hour ... first time maybe a bit more.

i was just about to say 20 minutes to a half hour tops. Depends on how fast the blood flows.
Though it has been a few years since I was able to give.
Dunno about the kids. I've never given at the Red Cross building.
Good luck!

It usually takes me longer than most people. If you're giving at the Red Cross building there shouldn't be too much waiting. So yeah, half hour, maybe more. I don't know about the kids. It can get crowded in the donation area and might make other people nervous. Plus you DO NOT want to distract the techs. Trust me.

So glad you're doing this. It's such a needed thing, there are so many out there who depend on it and are kept alive thanks to people like you! :)
