Happy 6th Birthday

Hey There Sweetie,

You made it to six. It seems like we have been here for awhile already but the reality is, you are just now six. I guess to me you seem older than your actual age. Gone are the little kid shows as you have moved onto Hannah Montana and The Suite Life of Zach and Cody. Gone are the jammies with footies. Gone are the Little People. It's happened, you have grown. Nowadays you pass your time dancing, singing, playing house with your babies and reading.

In school you are now excelling in first grade. You read with ease. Workbooks? You love them. Math and Phonics are your favorite subjects. In the last year we have studied Indians, Pioneer Life, Horses, Our Bodies and Ecology. Many adventures, many good times. We saw a few more cow births this year. Some were triumphant(Victory and Jaclyn), others were sad(Teacup and Rocky). I will always treasure those moments of life and death at the Dairy Farm. It seems to be our special place.

In life you are daily fighting the fear of being alone. Somedays it seems like you can conquer the world and the next you won't go anywhere out of my sight. I pray that you let go of the fear and step victoriously into God's plan for your life. You often pray, "Dear Jesus, Guard us, protect us and keep us safe. Help us to have good dreams." He is always near you. Never forget that. I trust in time you will develop your wings and fear not. You have such leadership built into you. Once you find your voice, you are going to change this world.

In the past year you learned to swim. Once you realized you were tall enough for the waterslide, you put your attention to learning how to swim. With determination you practiced until one day you were doing it. What joy when you accomplished your goal. Never stop setting goals. For you are one to do what you set out to do. So set your dreams high and work hard. Little girl you will go far.

Giggle girl, may you always find joy in simple things. Snuggle bug, may you always have time to spend with the ones you love. Pumpkin pie, may you develop all the skills you will need in the coming year. Sweet girl, while I love who you are in this moment I know you will continue to grow. Everyday learning. Everyday changing ever so slightly. In the things you say. The things you do.

I love you!
Happy birthday!

Happy 5th Birthday

Little Miss,

This has been a year of growth. Last year you were extremely shy, not wanting to talk to anyone but your closest family. This year, you have made huge steps. Greeting others, saying thank you and answering questions sent your way. I am so proud of you. I know God is growing you into the young lady He has called you to be. Watching you emerge is been beautiful.

In school you are officially in Kindergarten. With your own school and your own desk. You are a quick learner, soaking everything up. You love words. In your spare time you love to say, spell and write the different words you know. You love books and want to be a librarian when you grow up. Now that you are reading beginning books it is fun to see that love and passion grow. I hope it is a love you never loose.

In school you count to 100 by 1's and 10's. You know all the letters and their sounds. You write well. Reading is emerging and you learn new words everyday. You love science and nature. Especially animals, one of your favorite thing to do is to write animals you see in your animal book. You are ever watchful and on alert.

There are many things I love about you. You are adventurous. You love to explore and try new things. Including ethnic foods. You push yourself to do what others may not even try. Such as climbing the tree in our front year. You have persevered and conquered your goal. I know with your determination you will go far.

You are a great sister. It is fun to watch you and your brother snuggled up reading or watching a movie together. I hope you never forget, he is one of your best friends. Now and for many years to come.

You still love to snuggle up in my lap. As you are growing bigger all the time I know the day will come when you no longer fit. I cherish these moments. The smell of your hair, your giggling body and smiling face. I can not help but kiss you, you are so cute I could eat you up.

You are active. You completed another triathlon this year. You love to run and ride your bike. You and the neighbor girl can ride up and down the sidewalk for hours. You also enjoy to swing and dance. Will you dance, sing or cheer lead when you are older? These are things I wonder. You are so full of potential, I can not wait to see God's plan for your life unfold.

You are beautiful. You are lovely. You are growing. You are strong. You are loved. You are cherished. You are my sweet little girl.

I love you!

Happy 7th Birthday

Dear Son,

Can it be you are really 7? I know it's true but the year seems to have gone by so fast.

First grade. You have developed into a great reader. It warms my heart when you curl up with a book and read to your sister. I pray that you will have a life long love of reading. I know this year was so important in that regards. It amazes me how many sounds and blends there are in words. You are doing so well. I know there are still tricky words and things that don't sound like they should. Don't worry, you will have those figured out soon enough. And Math, you are a math whiz. You grasp these concepts so quickly. It seems like the words are barely out of mouth and you already know how to do them. It makes me wonder what you will do when you grow up. One thing I know, you love learning what makes things work. You want to know how everything is made and how it does what it does. I think you could live your life watching the Discovery Channel. Especially, How It's Made and Survivor Man. I am not sure where you learned to make traps out of downed branches. But I do know that you mastered the art. Not that I am thrilled that you cut down so many branches out of the pine tree. But I do understand. You are a boy that is growing and discovering in everything you do. And your trap WAS really COOL.

You are one of the most observant people I know. You have the ability to see what others walk right past. On car rides we love to look for wild life as we drive. You love spotting the deer, hawk and any other creatures that comes into view. Remember the coyote that walked right in front of us on his way to the turkeys. Or the day we saw 24 deer, 2 hawks, 4 sand hill cranes, 4 geese, black birds? I love that you love nature and animals. Another one of our favorite past times in the car is "I'm Thinking of an Animal, Do You Know What It Is?" We have so much fun, guessing different things about the animals and figuring them out. I'm not sure there are many other first graders that know words like nocturnal, echolocation, carnivorous, mammal or marsupial.

And the weather! One of your favorite people is Rob Dale the meteorologist. You love to turn up the radio when he gives the report. Some days you don't want to get out of bed until you have heard the weather. And man when you prayed for snow this past winter, God heard. He sent more snow than we have seen in years. Next year do you think we can pray for a little less. Please!

Lately you have gone into training. You want to do the triathlon for kids coming up next month. I know you are going to great. You often ask to go over to the track to run. And now that the weather is warmer we can ride our bikes. I'm glad you love your new bike, I know you will get a lot of use out of it in the years to come. It's fun watching you take care of yourself in such healthy ways.

I think you have a secret crush on Hannah Montana but you don't come out and say it. I think I have watched every single episode of Hannah Montana and the Sweet Life of Zach and Cody, a couple times each. Sweet niblets.

I am so thankful that you and your sister are growing closer and closer each day. You started out the year not wanting anything to do with her because she was a girl but now, you two are almost inseparable. She's going to be your best friend in the years ahead. Whether you know it or not, I think she already is. Oh, I know you would say your cousin is your best friend and he is but it's good to know you have one in the bedroom next to yours.

While I am being thankful. Thanks for all your hugs and sweet kisses. I am so thankful you are not too old or too cool to show your mom some love. I hope you you never are.

Thanks for an awesome year. You are an incredible, awesome kid. It is a privilege to be your mom. Have a great time being 7! Just no more branches off the old pine, OK?

Squeeze, squeeze, squeeze!

Happy 4th Birthday, Sweet Girl

Sweet Girl,

How can it be that you are 4?

You never fail to amaze me. This year you learned to ride your bike without training wheels. Not many three year olds can do that. You also climb your brothers firemens pole and you are almost up the tree in the front yard. You can swing all by yourself, pumping those legs until your soaring. You still love underdogs. I love your sweet smile and your giggles when your are on the swing. You are very active. You like to run and play. You did your very first triathlon, just yesterday. Amazing I tell ya.

It seems that you always have a song in your heart. You sing and dance your way through everyday. You can turn the simplest sentence into a song. All this week you have been singing about a beautiful butterfly in the sky. You can dance. You are very selective who you will dance for. But when you let loose, those hips are just a shakin'. I believe the Lord has blessed you with musical abilities and I pray that you will be able to use them for the Lord's glory.

This year in school you are at the table for most of our school time. You love to learn or more accurately, you like to know what brother knows and keep up with him. You know your days of the week, shapes and colors. You can count to 50 without fail. You recognize all numbers to 10 and most of your letters. You spell and write your name. You enjoy puzzles. You LOVE to read, make up silly rhymes and tell stories. Your imagination is the best. Most of your stories start with, "Once upon a time there was a name named ...."

In play you spend a lot of time with your babies. You tend to pick one each day that goes pretty much everywhere with you. Today your new birthday Barbie got to go to your party and you fed her pizza and showed her everything there was to see. You melted my heart when you put her on the Merry-Go-Round on the horse as you stood next to her. You are going to be the best mommy when you get big.

You love to play Webkinz. You have a bunny, pony and a new kitty. The other day you signed yourself into your webkinz and were so proud of yourself. You love that you can dress your animals and cook for them. You know how to do all the daily activities. That's because you are one amazing kid.

I think I tell you everyday how much I love you. I love your kisses and hugs. I love how you scratch my back and tickle me. I love when you pray. I love when you give me your big smile. You fill my life with joy. I love that you love Jesus and made him your Lord. I love you sweet girl.

Happy 6th Birthday

Dear Son,

This last year you continued to grow. You were finally tall enough to climb the rock wall at the YMCA and you love to do so every chance you get. Other bigger kids are impressed that you make it to the top. You make it look so easy. You have continued to get better in sports. You like to play basketball, baseball, racket ball, go skating, ride your bike and swim. You LOVE to run on the tread mill. You can do pull-ups, sit-ups, push-ups and jumping jacks. This year you made a decision to be healthy and you like to work out. We think you are one healthy kid. Way to go!

In the Fall we officially started Kindergarten. You learned to read like a champ. You can read and write your numbers to 100, counting by 1's, 5's and 10's. You like to make up math problems and figure them out. Such as what is 5 plus 7. You have also learned some Spanish words. You like school but you still do not like to color. You have a good concept of dates and times. You love to make up silly rhyming sentences. Sometimes I can not get you to stop rhyming. Everything I say you can turn into a rhyme. You can spell three letter words and like to figure out other words too. You are one smart guy.

You are so funny. You can make anyone laugh. Your favorite silly face right now is twisting your tongue through your empty hole. When you lost your two bottom teeth you thought it was great. Especially when you figured out your silly face. You are the king of knock knock jokes. You and your sister can tell jokes for a long time. Sometimes you two just look at each other and bust out laughing. I love the sound of your laugh, it is contagious. You fill my life with laughter.

I love you little man. I pray you will continue to grow big and strong. That your love for Jesus will grow more and more as well. You are one cool kid and I can not wait to see what God has in store for you this year. It is going to be great.

With a butterfly, eskimo and last but not least a kiss from mom.

Happy 3rd Birthday!

Dear Daughter,

You are incredibly sweet. This last year you have gone from a baby to a little girl. You would tell me you are big, not little. In fact you are so big, you don't wear diapers anymore. And you did it all on your own. You claim independence to the nth degree. You like to pick out your own clothes, get yourself dressed and brush your hair. Sometimes you will ask for help, sometimes.

I am thankful for you. You are teaching me how to be a girl. From you I am learning how to do hair and paint nails. You have more nail polish than I do. You lips are almost always shining with lip gloss. You can color coordinate, matching outfits is no problem; for you. When you wear your hair in pigtails, I could eat you up. You are so sweet and beautiful.

I love your heart. You wake up in the morning with a song of praise on your lips. You go throughout your day singing little songs. It melts my heart when you sing to God. And when you pray for daddy, it gives me a glimpse of who you are becoming. You are not afraid to dance and raise your hands to the heavens. Although you tend to be shy around unfamilar people.

In learning you are joining us at the table. You spell your name. You count to 14. Say your ABC's (you skip k). You want to do everything your brother is doing. As he does his reading lessons you say all the sounds and words along with him. If he is cutting with scissors, you do too. If he is glueing, so are you. If he does it, you pretty much want in on the action. I can tell you are learning everyday. You "write" letters; as you spell things out you make a circle for each letter. While your brother does book work you like to play with the hands on stuff; pattern blocks, bears, blocks and puzzles.

In play you love to be a mommy. You carry your babies with you throughout the house. You tell me all the time when you get big you are going to be a mommy. You also enjoy riding your tricycle. A few weeks ago I discovered you love to run. I can't wait to see how all things will come together as you grow.

Little girl, you are spunky and fun. You are independant and I am learning how to guide you, without discouraging you. Your giggle is contagious. I love you. You are the best daughter in the whole wide world. I am so glad your a part of our family.

Love,
Mom

Happy 5th Birthday

Dear Son,

This last year you have grown and accomplished SO MUCH!
You learned to swim both forward and backward the full length of the big pool. You learned to ride your bike with no training wheels. We enjoyed many bike rides with the tag-along. Thanks for the rides to Saturday morning breakfast, you helped us make it over the hills. This last year you learned to shimmy up trees, ropes and poles; definately not afraid of heights. You can swing a bat and hit the ball. You can catch a ball. Our record is 36 for throwing back and forth with each other without dropping it. You learned to swing on your own and jump off. You love to do obstacle courses on the swing set. You can make it all the way across the monkey bars.

This year you grew up. You no longer suck your thumb, you gave it up on your own. You accepted Christ as your Savior. You memorized many scriptures. I noticed that you are determined. That if you set your mind to learning or doing something you WILL acheive it. You do not give up easily. Your a great big brother, looking out for your sister; most of the time. You got your dog and take good care of it. You are learning responsibilty. This year you saved $40 of your allowance to buy your robot. You showed me that you are willing to work and wait for something you really want.

This fall you started preschool at home. You have a desire to learn. You can identify all your letters and numbers. Count clearly to 30. Will count to 100 with minor mistakes. You can count to 100 by tens. You like abstract things like pattern blocks and puzzles. You can do a 100 piece puzzle. You like to draw but not color. You love to spell out words. You can write most of your letters from memory, or copy anything you see. You can play war, go fish, boggle jr, candyland and chutes and ladders. You win... a lot...and I don't just let you win. Your hand eye cordination on the computer amazes me. You are better at many computer games than some adults. You can tell time to the hour and say the date.

You are an amazing kid! For all that you do and for all that you are! Thanks for being you. God is raising you up in such a way that you bring Glory to Him. I love you very much!
